Lost Property

United Taxis does not hold any lost property at head office. We do keep records for all our pre-booked jobs so we will attempt to contact the driver of your journey (if still on shift) and ask them if they have found your lost item/s and then arrange their return to you. However, additional charges will be required. Any lost property unclaimed within two hours by a driver/owner of a Public Carriage vehicle will be handed into their Licencing Authority within 48 hours (Bournemouth & Poole, 24 hours in Christchurch) of it being found.

 

All lost property handed into Licencing Authorities is recorded and kept for 3 months. After this time period any property not returned to its owner can be reclaimed by the finder, if they have so requested.

 

If you picked up a Hackney Carriage from a taxi rank that is not pre-booked we are unable to assist with any lost property items in any way, as these journeys are independent of United Taxis so no record is taken or held. Hackney Carriage drivers are required by the local Licencing Authorities to hand any lost property they find in their vehicles to their Licencing Authority within 48 hours (Bournemouth & Poole, 24 hours in Christchurch) of its discovery.
